Simex SPT-61 module is a RTD to 4-20 mA temperature transmitter with automatic recognition of 2- and 3-wire RTD connections, powered directly from the current loop, in a slim DIN rail mount enclosure. The SPT-61 module accepts a PT100, PT500 or PT1000 RTD input and converts the measured temperature into a standard 4-20 mA current loop signal. The measured value is transmitted to the current loop output directly after recalculation to the scale set by the user. The default scaling of the 4-20mA output is 0°C to 100°C and can be configured between -100°C to +600°C via the USB port using the S-Config 2 software which is available for free on manufacturer’s web site. Alternatively, we offer the option to pre-configure the output prior to dispatch.

The SPT-61 is powered directly from the 4-20 mA current loop (9.5-36V DC supply range). During configuration via USB, power is drawn from the USB port (max. 3.7 mA). The module is equipped with a peaks detection function, allowing it to detect and hold the peak values of the input signal for later reference via the USB port.

If the input signal exceeds the permissible range, a short circuit, or break occurs in the measurement circuit, this is detected by the module and the output goes to the nominated error value (no change, 22.1mA or 3.4mA).

Configuration, communication, device and register configuration is carried out via the built-in mini USB interface, which appears to a PC as a Virtual Com Port, using the free S-Config 2 software.

The SPT-61 features a very thin case at only 6.1 mm wide, allowing high-density mounting on standard 35 mm DIN rail. The module is housed in a NORYL UL 94 V-0 case with IP20 protection and weighs approximately 40 g.
