The PD140 is a self-resetting lightning-proof protection device developed specifically for transmitters used in outdoor measurement applications. Lightning strike is the primary cause of level transmitter failure in outdoor installations, and the PD140 addresses this through internal protection components that reduce transmitter damage probability from lightning, inductive switching and static discharge.

The device provides both common mode (wire to wire) and differential mode (wire to earth) protection across 4–20 mA current loop and RS485 signal channels simultaneously, and its self-resetting design means no manual intervention is required following a transient event.

Typical Application Areas:

Protection of 4-20mA or Modbus (RS485) transmitters in areas where there is susceptibility to surges from lightning. Typically in rural areas for level and pressure transmitters.
