The Simex PUR-94 is an advanced PID process controller with two control loops (heating / cooling), supported by an auto-tuning function and a Fuzzy-Logic algorithm, in a 96 x 48 mm panel-mount configuration. The PUR-94 accepts one universal input covering current, voltage, millivoltage, RTD and thermocouple signals, and drives relay, OC (SSR) and analogue outputs according to the user’s selection. A large 20 mm high LED display, RS-485 / Modbus RTU communication and free configuration software make it suitable for a wide range of production and process control systems.

Universal Input
The controller is equipped with one universal input, type: 0/4-20 mA, 0-10 V, 0-150 mV, Pt100/500/1000 or thermocouple (types K, S, J, T, N, R, B, E). During measurement only one kind of input is active at a time. Cold junction compensation of the thermocouple sensor is automatic, and both RTD and TC inputs feature fully linearised characteristics. A wide range of characteristic curves is available – linear, square root, quadratic, user-defined and a volume characteristic for cylindrical tanks – so the controller can be adapted to many process control applications.

PID Control with Auto-Tuning and Fuzzy Logic
The two independent control loops allow simultaneous heating and cooling control. The built-in auto-tuning function automatically establishes optimal PID settings, while the Fuzzy-Logic algorithm improves control stability and response, reducing overshoot and settling time.

Flexible Outputs
Depending on the ordered configuration, the PUR-94 provides relay (REL) and OC (SSR) outputs for control and alarm functions, plus an optional analogue output. The analogue output can be supplied as active current (0/4-20 mA), passive isolated current (4-20 mA) or active voltage (0/1-5 V, 0/2-10 V) for use within the control process. Binary outputs are available in 1, 2 or 4 x REL, or as OC.

Integrated Transducer Supply and Communication
A stabilised 24 V DC / 100 mA output is provided to power measuring transducers directly, removing the need for a separate supply. The RS-485 port with Modbus RTU protocol (8N1 / 8N2, 1200 bit/s to 115200 bit/s) enables data transmission in production process monitoring systems, and the controller can be configured from the free S-Config software via the RS-485 port. A signal peak value detection function is also included.

The PUR-94 is available with a choice of output combinations (2 x REL; 1 x REL + 1 x OC; 4 x REL; 2 x REL + 1 x OC; and versions with an added analogue output), power supply options of 24 V AC/DC, 85-260 V AC/DC or 12 V AC/DC, and factory options including an integrated frame for panel cut-out sealing, green LED display and an extended -20°C operating temperature range – refer to the ordering code. A range of mounting plates, board thickness brackets, DIN rail brackets and the SRS-U4 USB / RS-485 converter are also available as accessories.
